The appointment started off well when Addie stood all by herself for the xray without shedding a single tear. Such a big girl! When her doctor came in, he did a thorough check and then showed us her xray. The degree of bowing had dropped to 7 - within the normal limits!! After just five months in the braces, her legs were normal! She still has some tibial torsion, which is expected to improve over time on its own.
I cannot explain what a relief it is to not have to brace her anymore. As the weather got warmer, it became more and more of a challenge as the heat that is generated by the braces is significant. We were constantly battling rashes and other unpleasantness.
Addie handled her braces like a champ. It was only after they came off, though, that we realized how much they were holding her back. She can now run and jump and climb and they no longer get in her way. While she still did those things with the braces on, it was just harder for her to do them. The only downside is that now this girl is FAST. She can find things to get into quicker than anyone I have ever known.

Happy Independence Day! It is hard to tell in the picture, but Addie has her first shiner. We aren't exactly sure what happened as Sena was the one filling in the gaps in the story, but we believe a doll with a hard head was involved. We were told that she fell on the doll, but that seems slightly suspicious to me.
