I'm done with the Brady Bunch reminiscing.
We have decided to make a bit of a change in our adoption journey. We're going to try to conceive a baby instead. NOT! Sorry, that is so not funny. Our agency has a YWAM (Youth With A Mission) program in Ethiopia and we have decided to pursue our adoption through one of their orphanages. We'll still pay the same fees and our agency will handle all of the adoption paperwork and legalities, but the money is allocated differently. We really support the work that YWAM is doing in ET: http://www.ywamethiopia.com/about_ethiopia.php and it just makes sense for us to go this route. It is likely that our adoption will move a bit more quickly with this program, though that is not a guarantee. We really feel good about this decision. Time is of the essence to us now because there are baby girls available on the waiting child list RIGHT NOW. However, we must be dossier ready before we could be referred one of these precious babies. That means that our home study needs to be done Friday as promised. However, it is not looking good. Our social worker has been sick this week and said he may not be able to get it done. Seriously, will you pray with me that he will be able to come through for us this week? Then we can get it approved by the agency and sent to DCFS to get things moving. I know all of this is ultimately in God's hands, but I still want to do my part to keep things rolling.
Joy in spite of the circumstances. Still working on that...feeling a little more joyful than a few days ago.

You had me laughing at the beginning, girl! This is wonderful news...and, yes, we will pray that your social worker will be inspired/motivated to get that home study done by tomorrow. It's a weird tension, isn't it? Trusting in God's timing, but doing our part to keep things rolling...I like how you worded that.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your prayers, Babes. I just really want to be able to send our home study to CHI. We still don't have our license, so it can't go to DCFS yet, but at least we can get the agency's approval!
