Creeping Along

I emailed our social worker this week to inquire about the status of our Foster Adopt License. In the state of Illinois, DCFS likes to be very involved in the adoption process. Before our home study can go to DCFS for approval, we have to have a Foster Adopt License. The paperwork for our license was sent in early October. Just this week, the home study agency received notification that our license is pending. The agency then signs off on that and sends it back to DCFS. Eventually, we will receive our license - but probably not for several more weeks. My main objective at this point is to receive the draft of our home study. Once our agency approves the draft, we can go on the referral list. We cannot accept a referral until the home study is approved by DCFS, but at least our referral wait can begin. When I talked to our case worker two weeks ago, she told me they had not had any baby girl referrals in a while. The referrals tend to come in clusters. They're still projecting a wait of 6-9 months, but that cannot begin until they approve our home study draft. I just want to get over that hurdle and then we can worry about DCFS, the USCIS, and finally the authentication of our dossier in Washington D.C.
