Hurry Up and Wait

This is the story of my life these days. I have pretty much accepted that this is how it will be with the adoption. It seems there is a flurry of activity - and then a standstill. I'm sure that process will repeat many times before this is all finished. While we are waiting for our home study to be written, we have been working on putting together all the documents for our dossier. Every document then has to be notarized. There are only six documents left to be filled out, but we can't do those until our home study is complete. When we initially began this journey (late July), we were told that it would take about four months to complete the home study. That would put us at the end of November. As soon as our agency approves our home study, we will be placed on the referral list. Then we still have to send the home study to C.I.S. I received in the mail today a receipt for our I-600A which is the Application for Advanced Processing of Orphan Petition. An appointment notice should be forthcoming and we will have to go to Indianapolis, Chicago, or St. Louis to have our biometric fingerprints taken. Hopefully that will be the last set of fingerprints we'll have to do! There are definitely many hoops to jump through in order to adopt a child!

On another child note, Isaac has developed an inguinal hernia in his nether region. Oh boy - that was a shocking discovery. After three doctor visits, it has been determined that he will need surgery, but the surgery must be done by a pediatric surgeon. He is only in the area one day a week and we can't see him for a consult until November 4th. Who knows when the surgery will be. Another hurry up and wait situation. If you think about it, please pray that he doesn't have any complications before the surgery and that the surgery goes well. This kid has had more than his share of weird issues already.
