Home Study Visit Part II

On Tuesday we attended an international adoption training in Bloomington. There were seven other couples also in attendance and all but one are adopting from Ethiopia. It is amazing to me how many people just within our circle of friends and acquaintances are either in the process of adopting or have already completed adoptions from ET. I am so excited to have a support network close by! The training fulfills hours required for our home study and by our adoption agency. One more thing checked off the to-do list!
Today the social worker came to our house for the second time. The visit included interviews with the boys and they did a great job. Ethan was the most enthusiastic about it and went a little overboard in his praise of our parenting. Bless his heart! He really wants a baby sister and is definitely doing his part to make sure we get one. With the older boys, SW talked about Ethiopia and how their sister would be a different color than they are. Jack and Ethan both told him that it doesn't matter to them. Ethan even talked about wanting to help someone who doesn't have a Mom or Dad. Bless his heart again - he is definitely a very compassionate soul. On his way out of the room, Isaac announced that he is excited about having a sister. And then he added, "and she's gonna be black..." Color does not seem to be an issue with the boys and I am so thankful for that.
We are definitely making good progress. As of today, all of our home study paperwork is completed. We are still waiting on our second background check and FBI fingerprints to come back. We are moving forward with our biometric fingerprints for the dossier and we need to go next week to apply for our passports. I am so anxious to get on the referral list for our agency. The sooner we do that, the sooner we can bring our daughter home. I can't wait to know who waits for us on the other end of this journey!
