Today was Epiphany in Ethiopia. It is a day of celebration and you can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timkat . We spent the day at the guest house hanging out with Sena while the other families we were with headed to visit one of the YWAM orphanages. I had a little stomach ailment going on and it didn't seem like a good idea to venture out. Cipro is an amazing thing and I was certainly glad to have it!! The staff at the guest house prepared a special meal for us in celebration of Epiphany. It was incredibly sweet and John and Sena enjoyed it while I stuck with tea and toast. Good times.

Thursday, January 20
We went to purchase coffee and do a little shopping in the Post Office district today. We did most of our shopping on our first trip, but there were still a few items we wanted to get. We rode in a tricked out little blue taxi - the driver was a huge Manchester United fan and his taxi showed it! It was awesome. We received a phone call while we were out regarding our case and it was not good news. Some unforeseen things had come up and we weren't sure what that meant in terms of when we might be able to go home.
Friday, January 21
We had hoped that we would be on a plane headed home today, but it didn't quite work out that way. Fortunately, my parents and John's parents agreed to keep the boys a while longer while we figured out what was going on. By this point, I was missing them so much. While the plan had been for me to stay longer if necessary, John had expressed that he thought it might be better for him to stay and me to go home. He wasn't having any trouble with his stomach and his emotional state was much better than mine at that point. We had an important meeting set for Monday and we would know more about what was going on with our case at that time. Today was a big day for Sena. She had finally started to trust us a little and let us put her down. And she walked! And walked! And walked! We had tried to get her to walk when we were in Addis for court, but she would only take a couple steps and then buckle her legs. We had tried to get her to walk earlier this week and had the same result. I was beginning to wonder if something was wrong and she just was not able to walk. Nope. She just chose not to! It was so cute to see her chubby little self toddling around. It also made me happy to know that she was beginning to adjust to her new environment.
Saturday, January 22
We saw more progress today. After we ate breakfast, Sena wanted down to explore. The staff was so sweet with her. John had been working on his Amharic and he loved being able to use it when we ordered. Every time, they would laugh, but would understand what he was saying. One of the waiters would give us ideas on things we could say to help us communicate with Sena. Sena was bold today and allowed Yonas (he runs the guest house) to hold her.
