What a difference a year makes

One year ago today, we received Sena's referral! The wheels were finally in motion for her to come home. We filled out the necessary paperwork and mailed it the following morning. We were on our way!! We soon found out that, once again, some changes were made and more paperwork was necessary before our case could be submitted to court. If there is anything we learned during our process, it was to EXPECT CHANGE!! The rainy season and subsequent court closure was less than two months away and while we hoped for a miracle that would allow us to attend court before the closure, that didn't happen. I remember the angst of last summer so well. Each day I would wake up wondering if there would be news that day and then go to bed at night feeling disappointed that there wasn't. That cycle continued until Friday, August 20th when I received a surprise phone call at work. A court date had been assigned to us even though the courts were closed! Finally we had a date to focus on - Thanksgiving Day!  We were told there was a chance it could be changed to late October and it was. That was even better.  Almost 8 months have passed since we first held our sweet girl in our arms.  She has brought so much joy to our lives and we thank God for her.

Here is what our sweet girl looked like a year ago:

And here she is now:

What a difference a year makes!

  1. happy referallaversary! It's funny, but I think she really looks like your husband in that last pic! She was made to be part of your family. :-)
