There is mucho confusion with the whole name thing, though. We scheduled both girls for their checkups at the same time. Until Addie is readopted here in the US this fall, she is still legally named Sena. So, when it was time to check in for the appointments and I gave their names, the lady at the front desk was very confused. Then, when the doctor came in, she decided to refer to them as Sena and Addie Sena and that was much better. I have to explain the story every time I tell both girls' official names so that people don't think we are trying to pull a George Foreman or something. They always want to know if Sena is a really popular name in Ethiopia. I explain that in the case of our girls, the name was given because of the circumstances surrounding their births. Both of their birth families shared with us the reason the name was chosen and the special meaning for them behind it. It was important to us to honor their families by keeping the name that had been chosen for them. We could not keep it as Addie's first name for obvious reasons, so Sena has become her middle name. I worried that she would be very confused by the name change when she came home, but it hasn't been a problem at all. She knows who "Nena" is and that she is "Aaiii."
