Time flies

Four months ago, our girl wasn't quite sure what to think of her new surroundings:

Now, she seems quite comfortable living with our family in the place we call "home."

She didn't know what to think of her brothers on April 21st...

...since then, she has discovered that they are A-OK.

The timing of Addie's homecoming could not have been better for a number of reasons.  One, in particular, was that it was close to summer break.  We had almost 3 months to bond as a family of 7.  We were together A LOT.  For the most part, that was a good thing.  Addie has developed a close connection with her Daddy and I, as well as her brothers and sister.  The only big concern that we have had is that she is REALLY friendly.  I have done a bit of research on that and it can point to an attachment issue.  However, when we look at the bigger picture, it is clear that she has formed a fairly strong attachment to us.  John and I have discussed that particular issue several times in recent weeks and our sons like to point out that while she does seem to like other people, she doesn't cry or get upset when they leave as she would for us.  In addition, her interest is usually short-lived.  She may want to be held for a bit, but then she has other things to do.  We'll keep an eye on it and if it becomes concerning, we'll make some adjustments.

We don't see this pouty face too often, but it sure is cute.

On August 12, we had Addie dedicated at church.  In honor of the occasion, the girls wore their traditional Ethiopian dresses.

Addie kept reaching over and tapping our Pastor on the shoulder as he was talking as if she was trying to get his attention.

During the prayer, she kept saying "Nena" (her word for Sena) over and over again.  The first time, I think she heard herself through our Pastor's microphone and she must have thought it sounded rather awesome, so she kept it up. 

This girl has a BIG personality and she is a lot of fun.  I'm thinking that as she grows she is going to keep things VERY interesting around here.
