Last year at this time, we were on a plane to Washington D.C. with our friends, Marvin and Sara. In D. C., we met up with another friend, Shelly, who had flown in the previous evening and together we waited for the flight that would take us to our girls! When we arrived at the guest house in Addis the next morning, we were greeted by Kameron, who had traveled a week earlier to take custody of her daughter. Seeing her with Sarah in her arms was so surreal because it reminded me that the very next day, Sena would be in our arms again. It had been a long journey getting to this point and the end was in sight - or so we thought! We had no idea what the next two weeks held in store for us. Being there with those four (and their three girls) was an incredible blessing. As the details of what we were up against unfolded, I am so thankful that we had each other to lean on and to pray with and to cry with! It was difficult and stressful, but, in the end, SO GOOD! That shared experience forged a strong bond among us and we still stay in close contact one year later. If only Kameron and Shelly didn't live on the other side of the country!
